College Students

What I love about interacting with college students is that they are growing and changing and learning.  We are blessed this semester to have the chance to have several college students around BRBC.  I’m encouraged as I spend time with them and see their desire to know and please God.  I’m also grateful to pastor a church where all ages genuinely enjoy and appreciate the other generations.  It’s going to be fun to see what God does with our developing college ministry.  We don’t want to manufacture a college ministry but to let God shape the ministry and use the personalities of the students He’s brought to make our college ministry what He wants it to be.

If you’re a student and would like to let me know what a pastor/church can do to make a real difference please let me know- I’d love your input.

I think the main thing we are all looking for in life is truth. Authenticity. You know, Kirk for quite some time, and may still, had at the end of his answering machine message, “Be Real!” What do people want most in life? Money? Friends? Fame? But what is the point of all those things if they don’t have authenticity? Money=counterfeit. Friends=fake. Fame=fleeting.
My point is we all want something truthful to hold on to, whether we admit it or not. Christ is the ultimate truth. His Word is truth, but if Christians are no different from the rest of the world then does that display that Christ or His message is true? I think not. My home Pastor, Dean Reynolds, told me some time ago: “Chris(or anyone else), hold on to your integrity because wtihout that you really don’t have anything at all.” Our integrity is based on Christ who is truth.
I think that Buncombe Road Baptist, Sardis Baptist(my home church), the SBC, you, and I could make an enormous difference in the world by being real in a time when the idea of truth itself is questioned to the core. Just a thought. :)
